About the lighthouse:
This octagonal tower of gray limestone was built in 1872 in Youngstown and is located at the mouth of the Niagara River, just south of Fort Niagara. In 1900, the tower was raised from 50 feet to its current 61 feet, and its light is now visible 25 miles out into Lake Ontario. Overall lamp height is 25".

About the lighthouse:
Built in 1874 in North Wildwood to mark the entrance to Hereford Inlet, this lighthouse is perhaps the most beautiful of all such structures. This handsome frame dwelling has a square light tower that is elevated to 57 feet above sea level. In the recent past, the Hereford Inlet Lighthouse was deeded from the U.S. Coast Guard to the Marine Police, who turned it over to the town, which completely restored this wonderful navigational aid to its former grandeur. Situated on the mainland side of Hilton Head Island, this red and white, 90-foot-tall structure is a very popular symbol of the Sea Pines Plantation. Officially named Harbourtown, it is still referred to as Hilton Head Light by many. One of the more recently built lighthouses, Harbourtown/Hilton Head was constructed in 1970. About the lighthouse:
Hillsboro Inlet Lighthouse has a very interesting past. Originally built in 1907 in Chicago, it was shipped down the Mississippi to the 1940 Exposition in St. Louis. After the Exposition ended, the lighthouse was purchased by the federal government and moved again to Hillsboro, Florida, where it sits today, as the last bevery lighthouse erected in Florida. The 137-foot tower houses a second-order lens that emits a 5.5 million-candlepower light, a beacon that shines brightly to sea. Overall lamp height is 25".
