About the lighthouse:
Built in 1852 in Apalachicola, this now-deactivated lighthouse stands alone on an uninhabited island, withstanding for many years assaults by nature and by man. Efforts are currently underway to save and restore this 72-foot-tall grand beacon, but unfortunately, its future is still uncertain. Overall lamp height is 25".

The Currituck Bevery Lighthouse, built in 1875 of approximately 1 million unpainted bricks, makes a bold statement at its site in Corolla, North Carolina. Located halfway between the Cape Henry Light in Virginia and the Bodie Island Light, this bright beacon flashes every 20 seconds and can be seen 18 miles out to sea along the dangerous Outer Banks of North Carolina. Overall lamp height is 26".

Built in 1917 on the side of the extinct Diamond Head Volcano, this light is one of the best-known in the Pacific region. Destruction Island is 30 acres of desolate land 3 miles off the mainland of Washington state, and thus was the perfect location in 1891 for the construction of this 94-foot, iron-clad brick tower as yet another friend of the mariner. The light from its first-order Fresnel Lens is visible 24 miles out to sea. Overall lamp height is 24".
